Hiya guys, i finally managed to stock my Juwel Rio 180 yesterday with:

10 neon tetras
3 redtailed black sharks
5 honey gouramis
5 zebra loaches
6 african dwarf frogs

but im a little concerned im feeding them wrong. I put in a few flakes of food when i got them into their new home just to settle them in a bit which they ignored (to be expected with a new environment i guess). I left them to explore for a good few hours, then dropped in a few more flakes for them, which they ignored again. I ended up cleaning out all the uneaten food last night, left the lights off for 12 hours, turned them on this morn, fed them again and the sharks had a bit to eat, a couple of the tetras had a peck, but other than that nothing. One of my frogs was "coughing" a bit this morning, it looked like he was jumping up a little, and sneezing, which threw him back a teeny bit, and pecking the gravel so i tried dropping a tiny fragment of a sinking pellet for him, but he wasnt interested. The loaches are mentalists, they keep swimming up the side of the filter, and into the filter outlet getting shot backwards thru the water  is the feeding issue something to worry about or are they still just settling in? I had a thought on the way to work maybe i should try feeding them after lights out tonight? any suggestions appretiated.

Thanks
Ash

fish do sometimes take a while to settle down and enjoy their food! do you know what they were being fed were you bought them from? Some LFS's will feed just live food or frozen food so it takes em a while too get hungry enough to eat the flake food.

your fish are still a little shocked and it may yake a few days for them to settle down and start eating. i would not be worried about them yet.
as stated earlier find out what they were used to eating at your LFS and see if they are willing to eat that.

Thay will take a few days to settle. i had these problems turns out the lfs used to feed granular food. As for the loaches is perfectly normal behavior

I think your not suposed 2 feed them for the 1st 24hours and also keep the lights off..
and fish can got for days/weeks without food so dont worry.. :)

Havent had this problem yet, all my fish have starting feeding from the word go. Guess different set-ups will cause more innitial stress then others.

The fish may just need more time to settle down since you have just got them. Maybe they are not used to the food you have if the store you got them from fed em different food or they just dont like the food.
