Me and my girlfriend were at Target, and I was in a bad mood, cause of some unrelated stuff so she gave me $20 and said to go on over to PetCo and get something, she didn't care what, but it was something to get me out of Target which anyone who's been in one, knows it's upper class Wal-Mart.

Anyhow, in I go, not expecting to find anything but maybe a black mystery snail to replace one I lost and what do I see? A single, tiny looking fish swimming in circles. I go over and look closer, looks like a Khuli but they're never in stock, no one can seem to keep them. I glance at the tag, all it has is the price ($1.59) and says Khuli Loaches. No picture or information like usual and almost easy to overlook.

The first thing I did was hunt down someone to catch my fish. There were definitely two so I said get all the ones you can find. As it turns out, there are exactly five of them in there, the minimum number I wanted to get.

They're in a 5 gallon quarantine tank which fortunately, appears to be cycled (has been sitting there for months unused and I did all the tests which came up safe though kh is high). I had a rush on getting them somewhere and I only had the 5 gallon free for them. I have a 10 gallon with a Gold 3 Spot Gourami but I didn't want to risk disease spreading so I may move her to my other 30 gallon with two Blue 3 Spots and a Red Tail tomorrow until the Khuli's and snail pass quarantine in two weeks.

Well good luck with them. Your gonna need it, Petco has a tendency to mess you up. Their clown loaches are what introduced ich into my tank almost 2 months ago, which I'm still combatting. Hope you're luckier than I was.

I've been waiting for the petco here to stock kuhli's for 2 weeks now -.- Ok, so it's not that lnog a wait, but I'm impatient, lol. The nearest actual fish store is over an hour away, so petco is all I got.

One small morsel of advice: CHECK OUT the fish before buying it. Carefully. I made th mistake of not doing that at petco. I saw 3 adorable baby clown loaches in a tank and asked for them, got told they were on hold for someone else, but that they had some big ones that I could have. So I said sure, gimme those. So the guy catches all 3 that were in the tank with some small balas and gouramis, and puts them in a bag. I look 'em over casually, and notice one is missing an eye. I complain, he puts it back in the tank. Unfortunately what I didn't notice because the bag distorts the fish was that they had a bad case of ich, and as I hadn't really seen them in the tank I didn't know this. And that's how all my troubles started. Don't even ask how many fish I've lost cause of petco. Anyway that's my rant over and done with. If you read this far, thanks for listening to my little horror story and hope this doesn't happen to you. Also quarantine fish if possible, unfortunately this was not an option for me at the time.

Fish... with no eye? ee, creepy. They shouldn't be able to sell fish with visible deformities, or ich... lol, well, I still have no where else to shop. I will never buy dalmation mollies from petco though, because they look exactly like the black mollies they sell there

I bought 1 of my kuhlie loaches at Petco a couple of monthes ago.

He's as healthy as a horse. :flex:

Congrats on finally finding them.

Yeah I looked and he had an empty eye socket. it was pretty creepy and I was like eww I don't want it, take it back. :p Poor little guy.

I've never had problems with the fish from the PetCo here though I'm quarantining these guys just to be safe. I went ahead and moved them to the 10 gallon tank and put that Gold in with my others. The two gourami and RTBS in that tank are from PetCo and quite healthy, so are the Cories I've gotten before.
