I got my two filters today and emptied out about 95% of the water (because it smelled from sitting in the tank without filtration too long) and I re-filled it and added the dechlor. I also added the ammonia today as I am doing a fishless cycle (my very first one!) I am so excited! It looks so pretty...even though it only has about 1.5-2 inches of sand and a piece of java fern that was getting to long in the 29 gallon so I snapped off a piece for my tank. :p It looks so funny in such a big tank it is in one corner just waving back and forth from the filtration.

I know since I am getting bigger cichlids they will uproot any plants I put in there...but I was thinking maybe attaching the live plants to suction cups and attach the suction cups to the bottom of the tank under the sand. Would the cichlids still be able to uproot and tear them apart? :dunno:

I will get some panty-hose and fill it with some gravel from my cycled 29 gallon tank and put it in my 120 gallon tomorrow.

Anyone else have any ideas for ornaments, plants, fish anything??? :hyper:

EDIT: I will take pics of it tomorrow.

Congratulations :D

I wouldn't know about the suction cups, because I have never kept cichlids.

Can't wait to see it when its finished ^_^
I just really love growing live plants...almost as much as keeping fish! So I definately want a lot of plants in there. Too bad I had to fall in love with an albino oscar at my LFS.

I will post pictures as I update things.

You could always keep a convict with the oscar.
Yea, I was thinking about it. Whatever fish I get with the oscar will be purchased the same day while they are both really young. That way maybe they will tolerate each other a bit more.
