Finally Got Some Shrimp

Puffer fish naturally eat crustaceans. I wouldn't be keeping shrimp with them.

Nice video Ronan :good: . Your Amanos look quite at home

My Amano shrimps eat
- any left-over or missed frozen bloodworms by my Dwarf Puffers

So Dwarf Puffers ok to keep this shrimp? .. . . . .. Why did i think they would eat them?

I've not had any trouble with them being kept together. Infact I think it works well. The Amanos clear up the leftovers and they are fun to watch too. Amano shrimps are quite large. They can grow up to 2" whereas Dwarf Puffers only grow to about 1". I wouldn't say the same about keeping the other dwarf shrimps like cherry shrimps with them though. Here's a pic of their sizes compared.

I've had a single amano shrimp in with my DPs for ages and it's still going strong. Mind you my guys are well fed so no need to attack the shrimp.

Ronan...nice video matey :D Just a quick Q...how do you get on with plastic plants with your betta? My first betta I ever had ended up with a shredded tail because of the plastic leaves on my imitation tree. Every time he swam past them his tail split. Once I removed the plastic he was fine. :D Your bettas a stunning shade of blue btw :D

thanks folks

as you can prob see from the video his fins are a lot shorter than they were. he was in community tank and think they got damaged in filter intake so i covered that, then discovered he was geting niped too. put him in his own tank and treated him for fin rot and it seems ok now but maby the plastic plants were a part of the problem too.

finally managed to get some amano srimp to add to the fighter tank. there was only 3 left in the shop so will have to get more when they get them in. two of them seem to be full of eggs. tried to get a few pics.

not strictly true, there are lots of different species of puffer fish available, and while soem eat crustaceans, some specials in eating fish, or just scales and fins. etc
