Hello everyone..This is my first post on this website :) . I am planning on setting up a saltwater tank. I bought a 55 Gal tank with a fluval 304 pump. So i added about 30 Gals of water and added the gravel ( I bought marine gravel ). My issue is I am not sure if i was suppose to prewash this gravel before putting it into the tank. Right now my water is white in color. I have my pump running and hopefully it will clear up but my point is am I suppose to wash it before adding it to my tank?

Thank you for your time! :p

P.S:

I decided to take a picture of the mess I created!

hi, washing the substrate may have made things easier, but your filter (please note the fluval 304 is an external cannister filter, rather than just a pump) will help to clear the water quickly, and it will settle after a few hours.

it shouldn't cause you any real problems.

It may buffer, but, looks like a detritus trapper to me. JMO. SH
