Would like to share the story about my kribs:

Being fairly new to the hobby (first tank set up in november) we saw some kribs, and finding out they were good for the beginner, we got ourselves a pair. Very beautiful fish, they kept us entertained with their flirty dancing for hours. That was the first day. After this, the female started looking stressed, her fins were in a bad way and she was always just sat in a corner hiding. The male on the other hand started causing havoc in our tank, our male dwarf gourami sustained a few injuries, and so did some silvertip tetra, as well as giving the female krib a hard time.

We took our male out and put him into our 15g tank to give the female a time out. She coloured up nicely and started looking happier generally. The male had 5 neon tetras in our small tank...

After 2 weeks we put him back with the female, we had also added more plants and caves too. He still bullied all our other fish and the female. Our lfs swapped him for a new one, who wasn't as pretty but the female seemed to like him. the next day he was looking rather pale and 2 days later he died. Went back to lfs who gave me refund, said their kribs weren't doing very well at the moment so weren't on sale.

So friday, I went to another lfs. i got another male (third time lucky?) but they all looked very pale. As soon as he went in our tank he coloured up beautifully, and our female got the brightest belly I've ever seen. These two are inseparable! they keep shaking at each other all the time and seem very happy together.

Hopefully we'll have some luck with these two!

Just wait till they spawn, all out warfare will resume...good ole Kribs
