I need help picking a final tankmate for my 48"x18"x28" 105 US gallon tank. I was only testing my options with my community tank thread and South American root Biotape thread. I already have my mind set on an Oscar, Firemouth, and Convict.

I can't figure out what to finish it off with. I was going to do a Serverum but no place near me stocks them.

Between these, which do you think would be most suitable and Why:

-Aequidens rivulatus Green Terror
-Nandopsis octofasciatum Jack Dempsey
-Geophagus brasiliensis
-Nandopsis salvini
-Copora nicaraguense
-Amphilophus festae True Red Terror
-Parachromis managuense Jaguar Cichlid
-Theraps maculicauda Black Belt Cichlid
-Parapetenia grammodes

Thanks. :good:

dempseys are great fish... lots of personality.

though, if i'm not mistaken, don't cons do better in pairs?

I would say your stocked, is it L48"xH28"xW18"? Well maybe one more of the smaller ones, about 6"ish.

Also con's do fine alone.

Yeah those are the dimensions. What's another small one?

Something like the salvini may work, though personally I wouldn't get the oscar and i'd get something like a GT.

Why not an oscar? The mess they can make? But wouldn't a Green Terror be a little bit too aggressive for my other fish?

Also, what do you think would be more aggressive, a GT or JD?

Well the truth is I hate oscars lol, they are fish they can't stand up against fish there own size that are cichlids, they are common, take up alot of room, make alot of waste and the lists goes on lol.

Not sure really but i'd setup a GT and a couple of things in that tank like a catfish or oddballs.

Lol, well what about a parrot fish (the hybrid one), they stay around 6" right? I'm not sure whether I want to get one though, I don't really like the idea of man made hybrids.

Please do not put a pair of convicts in that tank...when breeding, they will DOMINATE all other fish in the tank to the point that every fish but them will be miserable.

Mako, I don't like them either lol, though it's all personal choice. I have mine as they were a gift and it's 'rude' to get rid of gifts i've been told.

Haha, well I don't particularly like them either. Instead of another cichlid, how about a catfish or 2. Would a Gold nugget pleco and a Lace Synodontis catfish get along together?
