Fin Rot?

when feeding my two juvi guppies in my 2.5 gallon tank i noticed that my males former beautiful tail was almost gone, so i immediately treated the tank with finrot. is there anything else i can do to make him more comfy? and should i seperate the female to stop it spreading?

What are your stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate.
How much of the tail gone, if it's more than half way not to good.
What med are you using as with livebearers finrot soon gets a hold of them and kills them fast.
Yes I would issolate the female.

sadly my test kit ran out and i have not had time to go to the LFS and his tail is about half gone, i have used king british fin rot & fungus control
