Hello sorry if this is nit in the right section

one of my platy's has what looks like fin rot, part of the fin missing and tissue vear the damage is a white colour.

The tank is still cycling as we were given the fish with the tank and being new didn't know any better.

I have bought the interpet anti-fungus & finrot medication. In the insttructions it says to remove the carbon & zeolite media add medication then put media back in after 7 days.

Is there a different medication i can get to use with the flter in so the tank still cycles and i can try and help the fish with the finrot.

Thanks Will :/

Carbon is used to remove medications from the tank, that is why it reccomends removal. Same with the zeolite. The bacteria in your filter should be mostly on your ceramic nodules/bio balls and sponges so removing the specialist media shouldn't affect the cycle.

Remove them as instructed and follow the instructions on the med to the letter. When it says add to warm water to activate it means pretty hot water. Not boiling but warmer than is comfortable to keep a finger in for more than a couple of seconds.

Good luck with your treatment.
