Fin Rot...or Something Else?

Fish can get columnaris spots. They sometimes have a circling of red on the outside of the spots, or a red centre.
The spots can be flat, or slightly raised.
I would still add the myxazin to the tank.

If the spots are bigger than a grain of salt and they don't look like berries, it sounds bacterial.

OK...i can't get a picture of her it is imposible with my crappy camera and the fact she is sooo skittish everytime i move she runs to the other side of the tank...the spots (as in patches not spot spots) are already fading...no red any where near them, but i suppose it doesn't help as my sunset platy has a REDISH tail...

I would treat for columnaris. Myxazin by waterlife and pimafix.

UKNOWN LUMPS AND BUMPS
http://badmanstropicalfish.com/articles/article25.html

Wounds that are white on the edges and red in the center are most typically Aeromonas. Those that are red on the edges and white in the center are generally Columnaris. Both are gram negative bacteria.

if it's any help the patch is not circular and seems to fade off towards the edges...she seems fine except the white spot under her belly (normally means she's about to give birth) is always showing...what will the med do? will it damage any of my OTHER fish in any way?

Columnaris has many disguises.

If she about to give birth you can only half dose with fry.
it would be better if you could isolate her. If not you will have to med the whole tank.

that's the problem...she ISN'T about to give birth she isn't the right size and it's been there for AGES...plus (not trying to add on to the problem) i've got no way of isolating her, the breeding tank is taken up by my guppy (SHE IS about to give birth)

Sorry for the late reply, been out :)

Have you added a bacterial med yet?

What's your location?

If uk, myxazin by waterlife.

The UK...k...i shall get it, will it damage any of my fish though (i just want to know because my fish seem fine and i don't want to screw up my tank as it has finnaly settled)

Myxazin fine.
It's not wise to medicate a whole tank if only one fish is ill. But if you have no hosital tank you will have to med the whole tank.
