Hey ok i have a guppy in my 5 gallon tank with a male molly, a female guppy, and a male guppy. Untill today i thought this guppy was a female but now it seems to have that pointed anal fin like a male (its a juvenile ). I was also surprised to find that the end of the tail has lost its orange collor an now is clear with white on the end. The tail is also no longer perfectly round and looks like some one took a nip out of it. So the question is, disease or attack? and what should i do? Thanks

this is just an educated guess, but i would say its a bite, dease usually looks like a rotting/torn/slowly disintergrating tail, and one little bite could have been made by a hungry molly  or maybe some rivelry between the male guppys.

but keep an eye on it to make sure it is NOT fin rot etc...

should i add some aquarium salt to the tank? I havnt put any in for a long time.

The chances are that the male has been harrasing the female and she has retaliated by nipping him to keep him away from her, the problem you have is that there is only one female for the male to mate with... you should always have 1 male to every 2-3 females so he dont stress out one particular female and has more to do..

It sounds like it as backfired on the male though as your female has beaten him up lol..

Get some fin rot med and treat the tank with it, it will help to stop it getting worse and will heal him..

About the salt, its pretty pointless adding it for 1 molly although it wont hurt to :)

In the meantime you need to think about maybe getting another female.. 5gallons will be ok with 5 fish of this size, so a molly and 3-4 guppies will be fine :)

Remember though, 1 male to every 2-3 females with all livebearers :)
