Hello all...my healthy 1.5yr old male betta who had resided in a 1.5 gal bowl with no heater or filtration all this time was doing fine....he got a sudden case of fin rot...which I used betta fix intially but it was getting worse so went to the tetracycline and water changes as per instructions....he looked great after 10 days...in which I then moved him to his new 16 gal tank with filter and heater which had been running for 10 days already....he loves it...very active and happy...blowing bubbles and playing....and it's been 3wks now and he has a hole in bottom fin and the edges on the bottom and tail fin are ever so slighty ragged looking darker with one spot that has receded....should I start the antibiotics again??? Is there something I'm doing wrong??? I've tested the water and it's fine. Although, he's not a big eater...and there have been one or two pellets left in the tank...but he's on his own in there...is that enough to cause this problem??? Any help would be great!! Thanks!!

I'd do some extra water changes, every day for a week, and see how he looks then.

Do keep testing, especially for ammonia and nitrite :good:

You say the 16 gal has been "running" for 10 days. Has it been properly cycled before adding the fish? It's possible your tank is cycling which means ammonia levels from the betta are rising and causing the rot. Ammonia is dangerous to fish. Do you have an API liquid test kit? You want to test the water every day for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate. If ammonia or nitrite are over 0.25 on the test, you want to do water changes to get it down. This could go on for while but it's safest for your fish. Also good job moving the betta to a larger home!
