Fin Question

You know when you see pictures of Bettas for sale and their fins are all spread out nicely all fanned out. How come I've never seen my boys fins like that?
 
Those pics are taken when the fish is in full 'display' mode; they get them to do it either by putting two fish in tanks next to each other, or by showing the fish it's own reflection in a mirror, which they think is another male :)

Yep, that's it. But it is not good for them to always be like that because if it goes on for too long, it can stress them. Some people consider showing a male Betta another male or its own reflection for about 5 minutes per day to be good for it, but not for much longer.
