Ok, I have a problem with fin nipping. I have two full grown angelfish that have had their fins attacked by something. I don't think they were caused by the other angel as to both have it. They are a mating pair, although they are both female. When they "argue" over where to lay eggs they only lightly go after each other bodies, not each others fins. I have put my 3 danios in my other tank because I thought they could be the ones doing it. After doing that, it looked like the problem was solved. But today I noticed a little more was missing from one of my angels and a part of the feeler from my gold gourami is gone. I put my other male gourami in the other tank before this happend to my first gourami.

I have a 55 gallon tank. When it first started I had all of my fish in there. They are my two angels, a 10" common pleco, two 1-2" german blue rams (one male, one female), two 5" male gold gourami, three 2" danio kyathit, one 2" upside down catfish, and a 4" asain upside down catfish.

My most recent additions are the danios and the upside down cats in which I added a week ago. That is why I suspected my danios. I spyed on my fish when they thought I wasn't lookng and nothing aside from the ordinary was going on. Each morning more damage would be done. Now that I found out my asian upside down cat likes to eat other fish (and I only see it when the lights are off), I suspect that one now. Who do you think it could be and what should I do?

Here are some pics of the damage when it first started to happen

What are the measurements of your tank? I assume you mean 55 US gals? The tank looks too small for the amount of fish you have, the plec is def too big and even if you rehomed him you'd probably still be overstocked.Personally I think your gourami's are the most likely culprit. 2 males is a def no no, they're very territorial and 2 males will fight. Often they don't get on with Angels either (there are always exceptions) but I suspect you have a dominant male. The tank looks lovely and clean but don't rule out the possibility of finrot. Overstocking leads to stress and stress in turn leads to disease.I'd rehome the plec and one of the gourami's asap, do regular water changes for the next few days. If the raggy fins don't improve by the weekend start treating for finrot. Straight away you can start treating with melafix which will help replair damaged tissue, regardless of cause.HTH and good luck!Acturally, the more I look at the pictures the more I think it's finrot as opposed to nipping. Hopefully someone will be along soon with a second opinion.
