Fin Nippers In Da House!

they are an inch big...i could catch one at a time and put it in a cup...

EDIT: wait i can't....argh what to do what to do...
btw will the fishes' tails and fins grow back?

If they're only an inch big, well that makes it easier; have you got a plastic container you could put them in? Like a big ice cream container or a bowl or something you can make holes in? Then you can float it in your main tank to keep them out of harms way. I know you may have trouble catching them, but you'll need to do that anyway to get them re-homed. Go slowly; maybe put the net in the tank and scoop them up while their eating?

Your other fishes fins and tails should grow back fine; just make sure you keep your water quality spot on to prevent fungal infections setting in.

Oh, lol, that might be a bit too small dude! You need them to be able to swim around a bit! Go search the kitchen for something a little bigger than that!

Got it found an empty ice-cream tub...hang on i'll tell a friend to post the pics...unless i can email them to you?

Sure you can; I'll send you a PM with my email addy; sounds ok though :)

are there any other types of fish that nip fins? please? do any of mine? (check profile of fish & aquariums)

Hi there; I replied to you by email, but in case any one else is reading this thread and wants to know; none of the fish you have are fin nippers though you are a bit overstocked.

The main culprits for fin nipping are some of the barbs (Tigers are the worst), some tetras (mostly Silver tips, Serpae, Black Widows and Phantoms) and a few chiclids, mostly angels.

You can normally stop it happening by having larger groups (at least 6) of the fin nippers, as then they'll concentrate on chasing each other about, but to be on the safe side, none of those fish should be kept with guppies, Siamese Fighters or angels (I know you won't believe it after what you've been through, Tropical sunset, but angels can be nipped really badly by some of the barbs and tetras!)

i know lol...well got the angels back to the shop...and i didn't get a refund :'( instead I GOT TO REPLACE THEM WITH OTHER FISH! I know my tank is a little overstocked but at the moment my fish seem fandabydosey!

Sadly its not just a little overstocked its very overstocked :-( I fear for you fish when they grow and outpoo your filtration capacity.

Sadly they will keep dying unless you listen to members that have already said your tanks overstocked.
We can only offer advice, it's up to you if you take it.
But if you don't listen expect fish deaths.

R.I.P.

i have listened and there is nothing i can do...the fish are dieing because of the fin nippers/fin rot....
