Fin Eaters?

Long story short, we have 4 tetras, i do not know what kind specifically but they are silver with red tail/fin and with the end of there body going into the tail (in the middle) theres a black spot.
i can post pics if thats a bad description sorry.

Basically these guys were in are more aggressive tank, and they didnt make it well they were getting beat up, so we moved them to another tank our community tank, (55 gal, 2 angel fish, 2 blue gromis, 1 silver dollar, 1 chinese algae, 2 pictus catfish) and we have noticed the silver dollar (who hangs out with them all the time has his lower fin bitten into if you will.

Our angel fish same thing missing some fin, is it safe to say that these tetras are the ones doing it?

what can we do to avoid having fish eat other fishes fins

Go to your LFS and part-ex the Tetras for something less likely to nip. Corys maybe

so do tetras nip? sorry for redundancy just want to be sure if this is the problem. all tetras?

most are nippy...but not every fish is ,, nut sorting out the chompers might be harder then choosing different fishn in the first place?? the only way they are more calm is is you feed them to the point of them sinkin in the water,, lol but thats not healthy!!! so mostly you just have to be carful what tank mates they have,, bettas and small angels are not good ,, and big angela like to eat small tetras... so maby could could swap with the lfs and get somthing else??

I will continue to monitor for now id rather not have to give anyone back. The angels are big and the tetras are decent size i havent seen anyones fins gettin terrible yet so i think i may let it ride out for a little bit.

I have tetras in with my betta. I've never experience any problems with the tetra. Only the betta. My last betta - died 3 months ago after a long life - used to flare at the tetras and chase them. When I upgraded to 40 gallons I put him and 10 tetras in the tanks. Within two days I had 7 dead tetras and a betta left in the tank.

But my new betta is quite peaceful
