Hi i just upgraded to a 125l from a 60 and was wondering about the filtration, at the moment im running a air driven sponge filter from the old tank. It used to be a secondary to the gravel filter! And i made a two litre bottle filter driven by air and filled with the gravel from the old tank. I been running like this for a few days with a little over 25% daily water changes. The fish seem to be happy (fins up and swimming as they used to playing with a powerhead)as before.
Am i ok when i get the new sun sun filter to just put the gravel in the bottom tray and leave it there for a couple of months to seed the rest of the filtration?
Also how many fish can i stock with the 1400 sun sun external? at the moment my stock list is
5 Danio
5 platie
3 black widow tetra (I have 4 more just didnt want to load the tank to quickly)
Its a Juwel 125 with a conked out light unit, so i bought a starter unit and screw some brackets where the old light was and just running one T5 18w light.
Im running the pump (sitting on top of my sponge filter) from the old Juwel filter system as a power head that just runs for circulation as it looked a bit dead with no flow.
Any help would be much much appreciated
