Filtration

Hi all!

I have been left a fish tank from the previous owners of my old house. I have figured out i have an undergravel filter with a power head on it. But i have no other filter source. I have a pleco 4 gouramis, and around 18 tetras. Should i be looking to invest in an second filtration device. If so what would you reccommend?

some people do not like u.g. filters as the gravel gets very dirty . they are also quite old .

if you can afford to - then i would recomend you go with an external canister filter - otherwise you will be fine with what you have got as long as the powerhead is turning the tank volume over about 4-5 times every hour.
