Filtration Question

hi all. i have a jewel rio 300 tank. for the filtration it has the internal jewel filter also i am running a ehiem wet/dry external canaster. if i were to take out the interal jewel filter to make a little bit of room in my tank would the ehiem be powerful enough to have on its own.
