OK. I am trying to figure out how to reduce the current in my 30gal planted tank. The only way I could come up with, using the current filters that I have is to swap the AC300 and the Eheim2215 from the 75 to the 30gal.

Current Filtration
75gal 2 AC300s and 1 Eheim 2215 giving a total turnover of 10.17 times per hour
30gal 1 AC300 and 1 Fluval 204 giving a total turnover of 16 times per hour

Proposed Filtration
75gal 3 AC300s giving a total turnover of 12 times per hour
30gal 1 Fluval 204 and 1 Eheim 2215 giving a total turnover of 11.4 times per hour

So I know I am reducing the filtration in the 30gal tank (since AC300s have high filtration power)....am I going to encounter problems with such a drop?

This is the only option I can think of with what I have since the Fluval and the Eheim can be setup so as not to create water disturbance at the surface (through the use of attachable spray bars).....of course if anyone has any ideas to stop water disturbance using ACs then I'd love to hear.

BTW.....for those who are wondering, AC=aquaclear HOB (hang on back) filter.

Why not just dump the AC from the 30 gal. A Fluval 204 can handle the tank more than well enough on it's own and can be great for getting carbon dioxide to be absorbed into the water (put the outlet from the CO2 into the 204 inlet).

You only really want around 3 to 5 times the tank volume being turned over each hour.
