Hi all...I have recently purchased a Jewel Vision 180ltrs tank complete with an internal filter. My question is ... in view of the fact that i intend to stock to the limit (1fish to 1gal) and that I have heavily planted the tank with plants (various) added rocks etc (no bobbing divers) will the present filtration be enough or would you advise an extra external power filter.

Help appreciated..... Frederick

Personally.... NEVER rely on Juwel filters :sly:

Two options:

-Upgrade the powerhead on the filter to make a much better turnover through the filter... so if it has th Bioflow 400, get the Bioflow 600 etc (looking about £50+)

-Add an external filter, fill the Juwel filter with all your biomedia like ceramics and plastic bioballs and use the external for sponges and carbon etc. Makes it much easier for cleaning as the external will be easier to clean and will be the one that needs doing more often.

You could add an external for the same money or less than just upgrading the powerhead of the original filter which might not cut the grade. The more filtration you have the better!

External Filters all the way! :good:

I would look for a Fluval 206, Aqua Manta EFX 200 or a TetraTec 700. After having a very heavily planted tank myself, I would go higher than that and get Fluval 306 or EFX 300 but thats just me :)

Agree apart from the ex700 just get a ex1200 the money diff is nothing and the taps allow to reduce flow but in 180L tank it will be fine on full chat IMO

I have a bio flow from a Juwel 350L perfect for a 180L that you can buy if like it only been used for a month if its any help to you :good:
