I have a 2 gallon tank housing one male betta. I do full water change once a week. Would a filter be a smart purchase for me? I dont mind cleaning right now while I am at home, but in a month I go back to college. I wont have as much time to clean the tank because I play volleyball and have a hectic academic schedule, not to mention the dorm rooms are not condusive to tank cleaning. It usually takes me about 10-20 minutes to empty the tank and rinse the decorations and gravel. Then of course I have to wait all day in order to put Jack back in his tank. He hates tank cleaning day by the way, despises the net. If a filter is what I need, what type would be best?

Thanks for your help! :)

On a 2 gallon a filter might become overkill BUT... i use a filter called PennPlax SmallWorld Filters and they just need an airpump to run. There about 1.5 inches wide and 4 inches long and release a bubble or two every second in my tank. Fair to say my smaragdina love it :)

You could also put on a box filter which is run by an air pump. They hold quite a lot of filter media and do a good job without much current.
