Folks,

As the topic states, my 2 year old son dumped a whole cannister of flake food (about 1 cup worth of food, but the weight is only 1 oz). I had just added three Melanotaenia praecox dwarf rainbows. Prior to the incident, I had just did a 20% water change, so I didn't feel that I could do another one so soon as it may stress the new inhabitants out too much. The other inhabitants were an upside down catfish (Synodontis nigriventris) and an african spotted leaf fish / climbing perch (Ctenopoma acutirostre). The catfish is his normal shy self and is hiding. The leaf fish seems to be more reclusive than normal, but that's probably because of the tank mates. The fish seem fine. I did a test of pH, Ammonia, Nitrites and Nitrates and the results are below. I didn't do a water change, but I did vacuum the gravel and got up as much flakes as I can, then returned the water to the tank after straining it through a net. My main concern now is that the water is really cloudy. Before it was crystal clear. Will the filter (one of those three stage filters) eventually clear the water up or am I forced to do water changes daily until it clears up? Do I have any other options?

Tank size: 30 US Gallons
pH:7.0
ammonia: 0
nitrite:.5 PPM
nitrate: 0
kH:
gH:
tank temp: 78

Thanks in advance.

The food sent the water cloudy.
Add some new filter floss.
