I currently have 2 Fluval 403's rated at 317 GPH installed on my 130g tank; both are setup with an intake and spray bar to cover the top of the tank. However I was told that a tank should have 5-10x the turnover rate. I do have an extra brand new 403 with me that I’ll be setting up tomorrow and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions with installing the intake/outtake connections. I was thinking of having the one 403 acting as a power head filter, would this be a good idea? or will this generate too much needed pressure in the water? or should I install the spray bar vertically to reduce the water movement. I currently have a dozen or so haps, 3-4 peacocks, 1 very large front and hoping to expand within a few weeks.

My water readings with the current two 403’s are good (0 nitrite/ammonia and 20-30ppm nitrate), however I’m worried that this will change in the future with more stock.

thanks

Well I did it!
I added the 3rd 403 in the tank acting as a “powerhead” filter. just installed the output tube midway down the tank then added a u connector with a wide nozzle at the end to create water flow through the tank.

Hope this won’t create extra needed stress for my fish!

The fish should be able to adapt to it. They may seem to try and stay out of the flow a few days or they may seem to enjoy it. :)
