Ok i Have a 30gal been set for for years had piranha in it 2 years

just gave him to my cuz

I want to Breed Guppies and Molllies

Now Have 3 Guppies
5 Mollies 2 males 3 females
1 Cory cat The small One
1 Irdecent skark 3 in
3 Clams 3/4 in
3 mystery Snails 3/4 in
Have more guppies coming !! 4 females 2 males
I put salt in it for the fish

lot of fake plants and java moss on its way

A Aqua Clear 200
and UnderGravel Filter

the Question is i heard that guppies don't like water movement ( Stress)
should i take the aquaclear out because it move the water around and just use the underground filter ?
will that help breeding ?>

any breeding tips will be great !!!!!!

Thank u Jerry

The corydora would not like the salt... it irritates the skin.

I'm not so sure that a current would be detrimental, but it shouldn't be too strong. I think taht a slow current is ok if it doesn't affect the adults.

However, if you plan on leaving the fry in the tank, which seems to be the case, then you might want to consider getting a spongefilter or just running the ug filter.

The shark will get very very big. Are you are of this?

Are all the other fish going to be in the tank when the fish breed?

I have recently set up a Tropical tank from a cold water set up and I am by no means any kind of expert but:

To start the Bio side of the tank I bought two FEMALE mollies(Turned out they were both pregnant) I run an undergravel and a Fluval internal filter and have had no problems whatsoever with this setup.

Now I have around 30 Mollies because the Females had another brood each.

The tank is well planted with live plants which is where the Fry mill around.

I also found that because Mollies have been bred so much in Aquariums they don't seem to require the salt that they used to. I don't put any salt in my system at all and 30+ Mollies don't seem to mind.

As I say I am by no means an expert so if I can get a set up that the Mollies like. Somebody with more experience such as yourself should have no problems. I definetely think heavy planting helps a lot though.

Well me Again

The shark i know can get big Hes about 1 1/2 year now

i have 4 tanks so if he needs moved i will !!

I didn't know about the cory cat thou will move Him !!!

The curret is don't real strong but moves the one side of the tank thst it on I have it on low and put a piece of stocking on the tube so
it would slow it down more and so when have Don't get sucked up!!

IMO, AC200 for 30g tank isn't too much - it won't create too much current for them to feel unconfortable. Just about the only thing you need to worry are the little fry getting sucked into the intake of the filter - you should cover it up with some fine nets.

You should take that underground filter out though - absolute garbage by today's standard. If you want some additional filtration (in case you end up overstocking the tank due to number of frys), you can add some sponge filter(s). AC200 will take care of mechanical filtration nicely, but you may need some additional bio-filtration if you want to keep large number of them... (see my 15g tank as extremem example... ;) )
