Filter stopped!

THe power in the house got turned off cuz my dad was fixing security lights. Now the power is on the filter isnt!! the tank light is. Any suggestions?

check the filter isn't blogged first.

well i cleaned it recently do you reckon it could have clogged? the power has not long been off

Just pull it apart to see if it's clogged don't touch the sponges, then if it's not working it has broken.

Phew back on, whilst i was in the process of taking it out it came on, but the tank is swimming with crap now.

That's happened to me sometimes when you switch them off, things get blocked in the outlet tube it just needed a move to get it going again.

With some filters, if the water drains out of them, like happens when the power goes off, the motor can start up again, but until you pour water into them the siphon won't pull water into it.

I have one that does that, and I worry that it will burn itself out if I am away and the power goes off and comes back on.
