I have just finished my weekly tank clean, and upon plugging everything back in my Fluval U3 filter won't come back on.

The filter is only 3 months or so old, so is under warrenty, but being bought online (from a reputable retailer) a replacement will be a while a way.

Do I need to run out and buy a new filter this afternoon if the filter doesn't come back on, or is there anything I can do to keep my tank running for the few days until I get a replacement online. (Cash is tight at the moment.) Alternatively does anyone has a Fluval U3 who can give me advice on getting it working again?

Many thanks

Ryan

Have you cleaned the impellor.
Had the same trouble before with internal fluval filters. Getting they started again can be a pain.
Just move the filter up and down in the water to get it started again.

I had a filter that used to refuse to work after I turned it off to clean the tank. I found the way to get it working was to detatch the pump part and gently flick the impeller. If wilder's suggestion doesn't work, you could try this. The pump needs to be kept underwater all the time, and make sure the outlet is pointing downwards or you'll get an unexpected shower

LOL.
Had plenty of showers with the fluval filter.
There a pain to get going again.

Once again thank you so much. I didn't think about cleaning the impellor. I took it apart, cleared the layer of slime off the circular magnet and when I replaced the filter it worked perfectly.

That's good news then.

yep they should print that on the box

It seems to be a really common problem with fluval internals
