Filter Question

I'm setting up a 20 Gallon Long Planted tank. I got a Eheim 2028 for free from a friend and was wondering if you guys thought it would be to powerful for my tank. Its a $200+ filter so I'd really like to use it instead of having it just sit there.

You can try it. I have a similar one and they are pretty powerful, you can adjust the flow rate, so I am guessing that at a low flow rate it could be okay. you could also direct the return pipe against the glass to slow down the flow. At full flow in a tank that size the aquarium might be too much like watching a washing machine. I would try it before putting in the plants or fish and see how it goes.

No way- that filter is way too powerful for a 20 gal tank. It is a supurb filter and you should hang onto it until you get a big tank.
