would there b much point in buying a second filter for my tank 2 help clean the water

Certainly a good way to insure your fish health. Unless you have a planted tank more filtration cant hurt. What kind of fish do you keep? What size tank do you want to add a filter to? The reason I ask is that some fish don't like a lot of current.

Hi. It's hard to say whether you need a second filter not knowing the size of your current tank and filter, as well as the size, type, and number of fish you have. In general, one filter of the correct size is all that you need. People often over filter their tanks which is fine, and even beneficial. You just don't want to have too much current. So as long as your filter can pump around 5 times the volume of water in your tank an hour, you are probably ok.

my tank is a 12 gallon tank. i have a fluval filter plus 1. does this make sense ?? i have 15 small fish varying from 1 - 2 inches in size.

Hi. I'm not familiar with Fluval filters, but from what i gather, your filter may be rated at 50 gallons per hour. If that is the case, and your tank is 12 US gallons then i would say that the filter is adequate but no more. Since you have small fish that likely wouldn't pollute much i wouldn't worry about it too much as long as you keep up with the gravel vacuuming and water changes. If all your fish are happy and healthy then you're fine. If you want to change filters then you could get one that's rated a little higher, but i don't think i'd put 2 filters on a tank that small.

That is a pretty small tank to be able to fit 2 filters. You could probably get by with an Under Gravel filter. They don't take up too much space. I just don't like the way they work.

im runing the fluval2 in a 20us gallon tank and its doing the job just fine and dandy. if you want to over filter, a simple small sponge air-driven filter is my vote.
