I recently bought a nice smallish tank (Elite 35) It has a filter that attaches to the back wall of the tank (stingray filter i think its called) It works great but the only thing is that it does blow out water at quite a fast speed. Is there anything I can do to slow this down abit. Thanks.

I dont know the filter or the tank but I had a similar problem with a filter and so I put a spray bar on it - it still came out quickly but just in finer jets all around the top of the tank - not sure if thats feasible for your setup

Emm i am not sure either. lol. What is a spray bar? and were do you get them. Thanks

Is the outlet of your tank a single nozzle ?
if it is then what I did was to get some flexible tubing and some rigid tubing. Put the flexible tubing over the outlet of your filter and connect it to a piece of rigid tubing. The rigid tubing needs to have a few holes drilled in it along its length and be secured above the water using suckers. One end needs to be blocked off
Once connected up the water is sent down the tubing and is squirted out of the holes back into the tank across the surface of the water - you can keep extending it using more flexible hosing to go round corners and more rigid (pre-drilled) tubing to make more spray bars.
I'll see if i can find a pic

here you are - the small picture to the right has a spray bar attached to the filter outlet nozzle

you can adapt a stingray to have a spray bar.
what you can do is pivot the head so that the output hits the back or side glass
thus dissipating its force over a larger area.
