hi all. the motor on my fluval 3 + packed up today for no reason leaving me with no filtration in my 80 lt tank. i had a brand new fluval 2 + so i cut one of the sponges from the 3+ in half and fitted these to the fluval 2. seemed to fit quite well. but now i am running the tank with 50% less media. do you think this will support the tank till i can add or replace media from another source.in the tank i have:
6 neons tetras
6 Praecox Rainbows (think these are known as Dwarf Neon Rainbows)
1 2" angel
1 apple snail
glad of any help or advice
john

i think it will be ok for the time being.

do you plan on getting a replacement? if so maybe perhaps get a better unit than you had,now you have the chance too!!

sorry for sounding daft, but is the fluval 3 + the internal or the external 305?

what tank is is by the way?

its the fluval 3+ internal.
its the aqua one ufo 550
gonna do 20% daily water changes for a week or 2.
thanks for advice

have you thought about getting an external filter?

there very well priced and you could run it in conjunction with the establshied filter

i have a internal filter that i dont use if you want it.

its brand new,its a fluval something, comes with a fluval roma tank!!

thanks for the offer Mark but i think i will do as you suggest and get an external as this tank was designed for using one

ok mate, externals are cool. i personaly have used the fluval 305,405 and just upgraded to the fx5.

if you do decide you want this internal, just gimma a shout :good:

What you have done should be fine. feed springly and monitor the stats as a mini-cycle is quite possible, but if you have half the media stilll, you should get away with it

All the best
