Filter Media

I have a fluval 305 external filter. 3 compartments have ceramic rings, and the other 3 have bags of carbon. Are there any other media I could use?

Forgot to mention I have sponge media, I have seen polishing pads, are they affective?

I would take out the carbon and use that only if you need to remove some chemical from the water. Polishing pads work, but aren't necessary as standard filter media. I would say extra regular sponges or extra ceramics would do nicely.

Agree bin the carbon, i would add another sponge and some more ceramics
