last night my external filter (fluval 304) starting leaking everywhere after a routine cleanout. Despite numerous attempts to reseat the seal (which seemed fine) etc I gave up. It appears that somehow the motor section isn't clamping down fully onto the bucket section. This is the second time it's happened (but I managed to sort it last time) so I've ordered a replacement (eheim 2026 on order) but it won't arrive until friday (possibility thursday, with a bit of luck).

Am I best just leaving my tank (55 uk gal, moderately stocked) alone (not feeding etc) in the interim or should I be doing small, daily water changes.

BTW - the existing media is in a bucket of old aquarium water to keep bacteria alive - will this be ok? Don't want to start with unseeded media.

i had that rouble but was advised to use some washing up liquid on the seal and roll it in your hand for a few minutes then rinse off and it should seat properly
