Hello everyone, this is my first post. I just started up my first aquarium and have a question regarding bio. filtration. I'm using a Aquaclear 150 filter that came with a foam insert and a charcoal/ammonia insert. The charcoal and anti-ammonia stuff are in one bag. I just started the fishless cycle method using ammonia. I assumed that It's not good to install the charcoal/ammonia bag as I want to keep the ammonia to get things started.
My question is this, should I get a separate charcoal only bag to install during the cycling, or is just the foam insert OK to establish the bacteria?
Also, once the tank is established, how necessary is it to install an anti-ammonia insert?
Thanks for your help.
