Filter For Betta

I plan on getting a betta soon and have already posted here about cycling the tank. I have decided ti use a hang on filter. I already have an established tropical tank, would it be benefil to run the hang on tank in this tank to build up bacteria?

when i got my last tank, i put a good squeeze of filter muck from my established filter in the new filter media, and ran it alongside the old filter in my tank for a month. Didn't have any problems for me

That is the best way to do it. Remember if the good bacteria isn't getting ammonia it will start to decrease, you should put your fish in right after seeding your filter.
