I have a breeding pair of angelfish and was thinking about setting up a breeder tank for them. I have an extra Penguin BIO Wheel filter that I could use for filtration. I was wondering if that filter would be acceptable to use for fry if I replaced the cover to the intake tube with a sponge? If so, what type of sponge should I use?

Get a sponge for an Aqua Clear 50. Stab a hole in it for the intake. Slide it over the intake.

You can also cut up a fish net and wrap it around the intake and secure it with a rubber band. Or you can use silicone to secure it like this...

I've used this on tanks with shrimp breeding, guppy breeding, and also discus breeding.
