Wat would be a good filter for a 50 litre community tank with a male betta 6 neons and 4 dwarf corydoras (and also is there anything wrong with the stocking?

if you have a Betta in there, these things are best IMO

do bettas need a higher or lower flow rate then, i would have thought lower because of their fins. i was thinking more along the fluval U1/2 rang TBH

oh of course, they're antibantoids! dont they have gills then?

so what flow rate then? 200/300/400lph? i have corys in there as well so dont want to disturb their feeding on the gravel when they go down at night

200 it is then, that will turn the water over just under 5 times an hour, i usually get a filter that can turn over 5 or more times an hour though! will it be ok with just a 200 lph?

it says the filter will only effectively filter tanks up to 35 litres and i have lets say a 50 (its 48 actually but for simplicitys sake)

the other thing was that my 380 l/h interpet wasnt very blowy either and the little goldfish were able to swim against the curent quite easily. so i dont imagine that a 300 l/h would be any more powerfull

the 300 lh one will do up to 70 litres so i think that will be ok, turns over more than 5 times an hour too

I will when it arrives, with the old one i had a surface deflector installed downwards to give me more current, and i know there to put the plants now if i wanted a calm spot in the tank

I would say for a 50 litre tank you have about 40 litres ocupied with those fishes already (using the 1cm\1 litre rule). There is nothing wrong with those fishes but don't add anymore because you are really close to overstock. But surprisingly i just found out that the dwarf corydora is midwater and not a bottom fish unlike other corydoras. The neon and betta are also midwater fishes so it might get a bit crowded because the all keep to the same layer of water, its best to keep fishes that dwell on diferent layers of the tank to maximise the space usage.

But going into the question of wich filter?Do you want internal filter or external?

eheim 2008 internal filter

external filter

there's two sugestions here.EHEIM is always good but i've been using fluval and been happy with them.
