I recently upgraded my filter from a Fluval plus 3 to a Fluval U4 in the hopes that my tank would get back to rights after a PH crash that happened a few weeks ago.
I transferred my media from the old filter over and all was well up until this week =\
I was to do a water change so as I always do I checked my levels before hand to determine how much I should change. My ammonia was at 0 however my nitrates are at more like 20 and my nitrites are at around 0.25. I have therefore been doing daily water changes of about 50% to get it down again. I haven't lost any fish, but my main concern is the fact I am meant to be picking up a new Angelfish today that I have had on hold for me for 2 weeks! It's a trip up the motorway to collect it so it's not like I can put it off and go back another time.
Will I be ok to add to Angel and continue with my daily water changes? And also my PH has dropped again, despite me adding coral sand and managing to get it up to 7.6 it has now gone down to 6.6, is that because of all the water changes? Do you think it is doing another mini cycle for some reason?
Thanks.
