Hi,

I've been fishless cycling for over 3 weeks now. The ammonia was dropping to 0 every day, after about a week, and the nitrite started to drop but since doing a big water change the nitrite is off the scale. I washed and kept the filter foam in the tank water while changing the water and i squeezed it a little to clean it. Do you think I killed off the nitrite bacteria? Have I done something wrong.

I think I've decided on the fish for my 110L tank:

6 glass catfish
6 odessa barb
2 rams
1 (or maybe 2) gouramis, probably pearl

Is this combination ok? I read that pearl gouramis can be agressive in pairs so am I better off just having one?

Thanks!

sounds like a good choice to me i really like odessa barbs there great fish, i think its more male gouramis that are agressive to each other. iv kept 2 three spot gouramis together 1 male and 1 female without a problem, not sure about the rams dont relly know much about cichlids sorry.
and it sounds like you doing things right i clean my filter in a bucket rinsing it with water as i siphon it.
