when i bought my tank i was told to change the white part of the filter sponge after 2 weeks which is today but i have nitrite of 0.25ppm and i can shift it i have done 2x 1/3 water changes over the last 3 days and added 3 days worth of amquel do you think i should still change that filter bit and could this help with my problem???

Do you mean filter floss that goes on top of the sponges.

its called juwel poly pads but yeah the white stuff that goes on top of the filter sponges

I have juwels tanks and don't bother with them pads anymore, i just buy a bag of filter floss it's far cheaper than them pads.
Meant to clean them once a week.
Just clean it under the tap that fine for the pads.
All it does is remove fine particles of waste from the tank.
I would preform a water change as well.

i did i did a 1/3rd chnge this morning but its still 0.25ppm my clown loach looks like he is on the way out he doesnt move at all just now he swam to the top of the tank and just come down and hit the bottom head first and now he is back in the pot im lost as to what to do and can 0.25ppm of nitrite really cause me that much of a problem???

Take a look at the post you started in the beginnr section, asked you some questions, can you answer them please.
