Hey folks, I am looking for a larger tank on the sly (shhh don't tell!) and I've spotted an aqua one that has the filter built into the hood. Do you guys have any opinions on this system (not necessarily aqua one)? I like the idea of hiding the filter away like this.

Lemme know what you think!

Thanks :)

when I was looking for a bigger tank I looked at an aqua one tank like this. I asked the staff member that was 'helping' me what happened if something went wrong with the filter. His answer was that I'd have to buy a complete lid with new filter inside. This made me walk away and I eventually got the jewel rekkord 800. The filter and heater is hidden at the back of the tank in a black box. The box is fastened on with silicone so is easy enough to remove if it goes wrong and has to be replaced.

Having said all of that there will be someone on here with a aqua one tank like that says it's fine and isn't a concern. I can only pass on my own opinion based on the questions I asked at the time

I have an aqua one 620 (90l) that has this exact set up and i have had no problems thus far. I actually find it quite handy as all the individual parts to the filter have item codes and are fully replacable from either your lfs of the aqaua one site i beleive. :) Hope this helps. Which model are you looking at?

It's actually the 90L I was looking at, it's the biggest of the AquaOne that I can fit into the space I have. I am really drawn in by the style of the Fluvial Roma though and I would be able to fit their 125L in the space I have. I only have an 80cm x 50cm corner ya see (and even there I've for to get some plugs installed!)

Thanks for the point about getting replacement parts though, it does seems like a nice "tidy" option. I think I saw your tank in the show of your tank section I'll go have a closer look!!

I've actually just realised I need to take the skirting boards into account so I've only got 78cm and the Fluvial 125 is 80cm wide - it would hang over the frame of the door a bit :/ boo!

SO here is where I stand:

What I like about the AquaOne 90L:
Filter in the hood is nice and tidy
Curved glass
Price is a little lower than Fluvial

What I like about the Fluvial Romas 90L:
Beautiful design (the stand is a LOT nicer)

Despite the fact that the AquaOne has more "likes" against it, I still can't decide! Oh well, it'll be a couple months before I am ready to upgrade anyway (too many DIY jobs around the house to spend the cash on) :)

Oh yh, not liking the aqua one stand nine is different to that ill try upload a p

Have you thought about juwel tanks? I have a rio 125. The tank is 81cm wide, which may be too big, but the stand is narrower at the bottom than the tank; it is only 63cm wide at the bottom which would take care of the skirting board problem if you could squeeze the extra cm of tank in the gap. The rekord range has a stand the same shape, but the as these tanks aren't as tall as rios you get less volume for the same footprint.

I have the AquaOne 620 (90L) aswell :D i love it. it hides the filter away and have n problems with is so far ( mind you i have only had it for around 8 months the stand i have is A LOT nicer then the one in that picture. I have a black and doesn't look so bulky :good:

Thanks guys, can you show me your stands? I do prefer the curved glass, the interpet fish pod i have now has curved glass, i like the way you dont have seams obstructing the view

I have to agree though with fidjet :p. And yeah, the curved glass sold it for me too, looks so much nicer :D

Yes, that is much nicer - I haven't seen that colour anywhere though do you remember where you got it from?

I just got it from my lfs. It's an independently run one so I don't think it'll help you much there, depending what area you live in?

And now to completely change the game up - I saw someone else on the forum mention the Juwel Lido 120: Juwel Lido 120 - Seapets

Now I did want to avoid the cube shape for my next tank, as it's what I have now and I think it limits the view BUT this way I can have a larger amount of water in the 78cm gap that I have available to me. Anyone out there want to comment on 1) this tank and 2) the cube shape?

Thanks :)
