Filter Broke

Hi
my filter has stopped workin this mornin will it be ok to take the sponge out of the broken one
and put it in anonther one thats not being used its the same filter as the broken one or will my tank cycle again?

using the same sponge will keep all the bacteria providing it hast bee took out the water for too long

great dont take out until your ready to place in the new filter then put it straight bacck in the water

Have you checked your filter mechanics properly. It possibly stopped because there's a blockage or the impeller is clogged up.

The old sponge may have had some bacteria killed off due to the lack of water circulation, but it'll still be better than starting from scratch. Be sure to monitor water conditions till you're certain things are okay.

yeah ive checked everything but it wouldn't budge ive put the sponge in the other filter so hopefully things will be ok il keep an eye on water stats. thanks everyone
