Filter Advice Please

I'm currently running a Jewel Vision 260l tank and am running the internal filter along with an external Tetratec 1200 external filter. This has worked ok but Ive had enough of the internal. The grime that gets between the filter and the glass is annoying, plus I've lost at least a Kuhli in there. So plus the idea of freeing extra space I've decided to get rid of the internal filter however I like the idea of 2 filters so am thinking of adding a 2nd external filter.

So my question is what would be the best external filter to add? Should I duplicate or just add a smaller one?

If you can afford it just get another as the only drawback is the extra flow in the tank but that's easily solved if needed.
Provides a backup as well in case one were to fail and also means only one type of media to buy with ease of replacement for both without causing a mini-cycle.

So if I were to go with 2 external ex1200 filters then could you tell me the answers to the following:

1) Which direction would be best for the 2 spray bars? Pointing towards each other at each end or making one across width of tank?

2) With that in mind where would I best place the heater?

3) To stop my tank having too much flow how low should I turn the outtake valves on each filter?
