Filament Glassfish With Popeye

I didn`t really want to post this in the emergency section as I don`t think of it as an 'emergency', plus I hope there would be more replies in this section than the emergency one

I currently have 5 Filament Glassfish rehomed from Nobody Of The Goat. As I fed them earlier I saw that one of the males has a huge lump under/behind his eye. After doing some reading it appears to be popeye
I`ve done a wc straight away but I very much doubt that it`s the water quality that`s caused it as I am pretty rigorous about my regular water changes, plus my tanks are kept clean. I`m wondering if would it be ok to firstly add a small amount of dissolved aquarium salt to the tank water before starting any meds considering there`s another 4 Glassfish, 2 Badis and a fair few rcs in the tank as well??

What might complicate matters is that the glassfish are scaleless fish, so they are more likely to react badly to normal medication dosages, perhaps even aquarium salt.

I felt so gutted when I saw it

I`m going to do 25% daily water changes and I`m really hoping that lots of clean water will do the trick even though I`m pretty confident that it`s not a water quality issue, if that makes sense? I don`t want to start adding meds unless it would be beneficial and safe to do so

My angel fish has got this aswell, so im doing daily w/c (and seems to ave gone down from when i first noticed)
And also ordered some meds.
And he seems doing fine atm.

So water change's probally will help.

In and of itself, salt won't harm filament glassfish. While they're mostly found in blackwater streams they do occur in slightly brackish streams as well, and in any case the entire glassfish family is salt-tolerant.

HOWEVER, salt as in sodium chloride will have no useful effect on pop-eye. Epsom salt can be helpful, but it's something else entirely.

After doing a bit more reading I added 1tsp of dissolved Aquarium salt to the tank and have done approx 30-40% wc every day. The poor little glassfish doesn`t look any different, the eye still has a huge lump behind it, he looks awful bless him
I really don`t know what to do for the best, do I give it another few days of water changes or start adding meds? IF the meds route what would be the best to use?

Please understand aquarium salt IS NOT Epsom salt and WILL NOT reduce swelling.

Pop-eye is treated using a combo of antibiotics, Epsom salt, and improved environmental conditions. Where both eyes swell, chances are poor water quality is to blame; a single swollen eye usually means physical trauma, in which case review tankmates, handling, ornaments in the tank, etc.
