Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum. I'm seeking help for my figure eight puffer(s). Both of my puffers became extremely skinny within the past few weeks. One seems to have gotten better, but the other is still so skinny, from his gills back, he has a slight S shape. I feed them both blood worms twice a day and snails once every other week. When he eats, his stomach gets round, but he loses it within 4 hours. His normally white stomach, sometimes has a grayish hue but not all the time. He is swimming around and still very active. His color is fine, but his skin seems a little bumpy. Any ideas? stomach parasites?

Thanks!!

Is there a difference between using distilled and spring water in a brackish aquarium?

If his stomach is sunk inwards that quick after eating id be looking at an internal parasite.

thanks so much for replying!! He now has one small red spot on one side. I've done a lot of research and haven't found anything conclusive. I guess I will try an internal parasite remedy and see if that helps. Will it hurt my other fish? I have monos, scats, butterfly goby, and mollies.

Im not totally sure, id recommend checking "The Puffer Forum" for more specific help on treating Puffers for internal parasites. Ive heard the best way is to put their food in the meds for 10 mins or so, so that the meds soak into the food then feed the puffer, this way the meds go straight to the problem area.
