Today, the bio-wheel on my penguin filter in my puffer tank was not spinning. This is has been an ongoing problem.

So today i reseated the filter cartridge, reseated all the tubes and made sure everything was clean of gunk. I also removed the the end intank tube which has the slotted end because i thought it might not be sucking in enough water.

So everything seemed ok, the wheel was spinning and the filter was outputting a nice flow of water.

I was out all today, and when i got home my figure 8 was missing.

Yup, he got stuck in the intake tube. As soon as disconnected the filter he popped out.

He was all puffed up and obviously distressed. I have no idea how long he was up there.

Now he seems to have a few red spots on him not sure if its blood or what. And he is scrapped up.

Do internal injuries seem likely? Does it sound terminal?

iis there anything i can do for him?

How is his behavior now? That is your best clue as to whether something is wrong internally or not. As for other things you can do to help him, turn off the tank lights and leave the room dark. This will reduce stress. You may want to consider using melafix for him, which is like a liquid bandaid and should help the open sores heal and prevent infection.
