Hi all

I am currently cycling my 10g tank (fishless). So while I am waiting for it to be ready, I am thinking about what to stock it with. (Either a puffer, or a handful of smaller fish). I have been reading lots about figure 8 puffers - some say a 10g tank would be OK (I would keep just one in there with no other fish) - others say a 10g is too small. Just wanted to get your opinions on here as you have been so helpful with the cycling advice!

Many thanks

Dave

I'm going to advise against it. Even though the figure 8 is a smaller puffer, only 2.5 to 3 inches they really do need a bit more room. I have kept them in a 20 gallon with out any problems in terms of room but it was the only fish in the tank. Also keep in mind it's a brackish water fish so to be a healthy adult the water will eventually need to be salty.
