id it normal for a male betta to rip off the scales of a female betta while the proccess of breeding i expected some fighting but this is something else. my female is defently not a plakat because she shows white verticles strips tp the male.
i wont send a picture as it is a bit nasty she has been treated so she is on the road to recovery
 
not sure why that makes you think she's not a plakat. my girl is a plakat and she shows vertical bars to the male. she's had them throughout the whole process of spawning so far. Dark female bettas can show their vertical bars when they're ready to breed. It's not related to what tailtype they are.

i think he/she means that its not a male plakat that could be mistaken for a female ;)

yep i (he) mean it is defenetly a female other wise my female would rip his fins
