Hiya

As some of you know from my other posts, I have (well, had) a pair of kribs with a nearly 2 week old spawn, however we have had a bit of a mishap :( Mr. Krib was always very shy and stayed at the back while mum looked after the babies during the day and then guarded the cave at night, however a couple of days ago, he suddenly became very dominant. He stayed with the babies and the female stayed in the cave away from him. I'd seen him chasing her a few times but she was normally too fast for him and would hide above the filter or in the cave (he wouldn't go in) until he'd got over himself. But just last night, my dad noticed that the female was hiding again but was pretty beat up. I decided to move the male into my other tank this morning to give her peace, however 5 minutes later, he found her and attacked her again. She was hiding in the cave in the corner with her nose in the sand and her tail straight up in the water. So I whipped the male straight out there and then and hoped for the best but when I got up she was in the same position in the cave dead :( The babies were all over the tank looking for dad to look after them so they could feed so he's now back in there after a night away.
I was just wondering why he did that or if anyones heard of that happening before. I know with some fish like bettas you take the female straight back out after spawning but I've never heard of it with kribs???
I feel really bad now

Umm... I can't really remember coz it was a year or so ago but the lfs where I got them has them for £8 a pair ATM. I'll sell you some fry if you want when they're old enough - I've got about 75 so I need rid of some!!!
They're only a couple of weeks old just now though

I honestly have no idea - I'm not sure which age you're supposed to separate them at. Give me 2 minutes and I'll edit back in once I've checked online :D

Edit: according to a website that I read, you can separate the young from the parents at 4-5 weeks, although I could hold them for longer if you would prefer - I wouldn't be able to gender them thoguh until they are about 1.5 inches but I don't know how long that'll take :good:

Dunno - probably a couple of pounds or so plus postage. Just read though on another website "the fry would be ready to sell at about 4 months"!!! Eh?! Talk about contradicting advice! I'll put another post on here somewhere asking so I know for sure coz I don't want to end up selling them and them dying on people

Sorry for the delay :) More research being done.
I would need to buy boxes, heat packs and maybe bags if I've ran out so it would probably be about £8 but I could combine postage for several :good: I've not done the postage thing before! lol Can you tell!

Well Its a shame you couldnt get it done sooner as Im after fish in the next couple of days. Will they have the same markings as the one in ur dp?

DP is just a random picture off of google lol
These are the actual parents:

If you want more pics I have plenty lol :D

Yeh I know time-wise it's going to be a few weeks before they're ready to go but hey :) I could put them on steriods :D

Technically, I could, but they're only about between a quarter to a third of an inch at the moment :) I couldn't guarentee a great survival rate
This is what they looked like 10 minutes ago:
