Hey,

I have three new Dalmation Mollies, two females and a male, and I'm just wondering if this is normal behaviour:

The male and one of the females keep fighting, is this some mating behaviour or something? The first time I caught them at it they were slapping each other with their tails and the second time they were going all out and nipping each other too. I dont think they did any serious damage, their fins all seem good and there are no damage marks on either of them, although they are so active its hard to see sometimes! The wierd thing is it seems to be the female who is ever so slightly more aggresive (or it seems that way). It does seem to have an effect on the other female too, who will stand back and watch but clamp her fins up slightly, untill she sees me watching then comes over to where I'm looking into the tank which seems to take her mind off it. The Platy in there just keeps his distance, sounds like a clever idea to me.

Most of the time they are perfectly fine and seem to be enjoying themselves in the tank and tend to swim around in a group of three, chasing each other sometimes, but I've only had them about 4 days now and seen it twice.

Am I being paranoid and is this normal?

Dan

my females attack my males pretty regular because male mollies constantly harass females to mate with them but they never seem to do damage kind of just a leave me alone
